ABOUT THE CLIENT
Zing InsightBot is an intelligent analytics bot integrated with the Acumatica ERP platform using a Connected App (Zing InsightBot). This connected app securely links the Acumatica instance with Zing InsightBot through Acumatica's APIs, enabling real-time and controlled access to ERP data without impacting system performance or security. Users can ask natural language questions related to inventory data, and the bot responds with in-depth analytical insights—not only retrieving raw data from Acumatica but also processing and interpreting it to provide meaningful business analysis.
CHALLENGES
Decision-makers often navigate multiple ERP screens or rely on static reports to get insights.
Organizations depend on IT or consultants for reports or Generic Inquiries.
Manual analysis across multiple Acumatica screens is time-consuming and error-prone.
Significant effort is spent creating and maintaining reports and dashboards.
Management often operates in a reactive reporting mode rather than proactive decision-making.
SOLUTION
Zing InsightBot is integrated with Acumatica using a Connected Application that leverages REST APIs and OData endpoints. The Connected App is registered within Acumatica, enabling secure, token-based communication. The integration follows a loosely coupled architecture with no direct dependency on Acumatica UI or custom code deployment in the ERP instance.
OAuth 2.0 authentication with client_id and client_secret; time-bound access tokens refreshed via refresh tokens; all API communication over HTTPS for data encryption in transit.
Inventory module integration uses REST API endpoints (Inventory Items, Warehouses and Locations) and OData endpoints for analytical queries. Use cases include on-hand quantities across warehouses, historical inventory movement analysis, and valuation and cost trend analysis. Data is normalized and aggregated in Zing InsightBot's analytics layer with advanced filtering, grouping, and time-series analysis—detecting slow-moving and fast-moving items, overstock and stock-out risks, and seasonal demand patterns.
Analytical results are presented using bar charts, line graphs, and trend curves. Users can ask follow-up questions for deeper drill-down analysis without additional configuration in Acumatica (no GI or report creation required).
The same Connected App framework can be extended to Sales Orders, Purchasing, Finance, and CRM. Modular endpoint consumption allows phased rollouts with minimal rework.
